Choral Speaking Competition at the English Language Carnival 2012

What is choral speaking?


The reading or reciting of a text by a group. Preparation for a performance may involve interpretation of the text;experimentation with language,rhythm,volume,pace and different numbers of voices and rehearsal . We participated in the choral speaking competition which was held on the  4th of April 2012 at SMK Dato' Undang Hj. Adnan, Kota (DUHA).  Our topic was  'School Life'. We were the runner up for this competition and our girls were so delighted. We also won the 'best conductor award' . The third picture below  is our very commited conductor who did a great job conducting the choral speaking. We are proud of the effort and commitment showed by the girls.

Rembau District Drama Competition For Secondary Schools 2012

Date :  4th April 2012

Time:  8.00am

Venue: Pusat Kegiatan Kokurikulum Rembau 

Host:    SMVDUHMS

Six schools  participated in this event and the Champion was SM Sains Rembau followed by Sek Tinggi Islam As Sofa and the third place went to  SMV Dato Undang Haji Muhammad Sharip. Our school put up a performance entitled 'The Stone Soup'. The message in this  drama is about the importance of sharing.Kindness is one of the most important and fascinating qualities of our human experience. It is gratifying to watch as humans share their love, generosity and good nature.

Participating in drama performances,gives students ;

•  a possibility to express themselves and to develop their talent and communicative skills.
• Encourages students  to develop their  acting skills and abilities and this  increases their  self-esteem and self-confidence.
•  Most importantly  it helps students to improve their English Language.

Techniques of answering SPM English Language Paper 1 Workshop

Date: 31st of March 2012

Time: 8.00 am - 10.30am

                          Venue: School Hall & Angsana Restaurant

All form 5 students attended this workshop. They were taught the techniques of answering  both the directed writing and the continuous writing questions. 

English Language Parliamentary Style Debate for secondary schools in Rembau district.

Our debaters: Afikah Nasuha, Atiqah Ramli and Zalifah

On the 28th of March 2012, SMV DUHMS participated in the district level debate competition which  was held in Sek Men Dato' Undang Haji Adnan (DUHA) . Our team met the debaters from Sek.Men Datuk Abdullah (SEMENDA) . The topic of the debate is  " Media is responsible for the rise in criminal cases" . We, the government team, won the preliminary round and went into the semi finals. However, we lost in the semi finals to SM Undang Rembau. Our debaters put in much effort and commitment in preparation for the debate.We are hoping to do better in the Kejohanan Antara Teknik (KAT) competition.

Newspaper In Education

NIE provides teachers a variety of materials, to teach the English Language in an interesting and fun way. We carried out a NIE activity on the 3rd of March 2012 in our school hall. Students enjoyed this session and were able to carry out all activities assigned, in a creative manner. Among activities carried out were Acrostic Poem, Word Building and Creating a Story from selected pictures in the newspaper. Below are some of the pictures taken during the activity .

The English Language Department of Sek. Men Vokasional Dato' Undang Haji Muhammad Sharif (DUHMS) has decided to share all the activities carried out by the English Language Panel with all of you.  In line with the  government 's  policy,to uphold Bahasa Malaysia and to strengthen Bahasa Inggeris (MBMMBI), we have decided that posting information  on all the activities carried out in our school is one method to share information or strategies used in upgrading the standard of English in our school. May we be able to share and grow.

A huge number of people around the world learn English. Mainly for these reasons:

1}They want to make themselves compatible in the job-market

2) They love English literature.

3) English is the demand of the time of globalization.
